There are so many people regularly addicted to their morning cup of Coffee, which in the past has been a matter of controversy. Recent studies have shown that that health professionals recommend drinking 2 to 3 cups of coffee per day because it provides a significant number of positive payoffs, and the list is growing longer and longer! Isn’t that great news?

One of the only things to take into consideration about daily coffee consumption is whether or not you are sensitive to caffeine. If you are someone who has issues with anxiety, caffeine can increase the risk of a panic attack or anxiety issues. However, if you can drink coffee in moderation, it provides a large number of benefits in disease prevention and overall wellness. If you are highly sensitive to caffeine, then you do have the option to drink decaffeinated coffee, which has come a long way in flavor and quality. If you are looking for a decaf brew, then make sure that it is decaffeinated with the Swiss Water Process, which uses water instead of harmful chemicals to remove caffeine from the brew.

Coffee itself has been shown to increase alertness and focus, and it is also full of healthy antioxidants. The benefit to in taking antioxidants on a regular basis is that they will neutralize free radical damage in the cells to prevent disease and premature aging. For this reason, you may be familiar with the fact that many skin care companies are using coffee as an ingredient because it provides antioxidants topically to the surface of the skin to neutralize free radical damage and prevent wrinkles from forming. Win-Win!

Coffee has most recently been proven to significantly reduce the risk of disease. As an example, Harvard researchers have shown that drinking up to 3 cups of regular coffee per day can significantly reduce the risk of diabetes. Men within this study group who drank six or more cups of coffee each day reduced their risk of diabetes by 54%, and women by 30%. This was compared to those who abstained from coffee completely.

Regular coffee drinkers also have the benefit of being 80% less likely to have Parkinson’s disease, directly related to the more coffee that they drink. This means that the more coffee that is consumed, the lower the risk for Parkinson’s disease. Regular Java drinkers also have a 25% less risk of colon cancer, a 50% less risk of gallstones, and an 80% less risk of cirrhosis of the liver developing.

These are highly significant results, especially when you take into consideration that past studies shed a negative light on regular coffee drinking. One of the reasons for this is that the coffee drinkers within the studies were also smokers, so all of the negative results came from smoking and not coffee consumption.

The bottom line is that you are more than encouraged to enjoy your daily cup of Coffee because of the large number of health and wellness benefits it provides to you!

I have had trouble with caffeine all my grown up life. First it gives me a kick then after a while I get anxiety and I find it hard to concentrate and sometime I even feel nausea. I stopped drinking coffee and turned to tea instead but I soon discovered that it gave me the same symptoms that coffee did. I realized that it also contained caffeine. I had heard about the great things it can do. So I searched every corner of the internet to find a product that had decaffeinated green tea in it. I have found one.

Lower the chance of getting heart diseases
Every scientist that has done research on green tea say the same thing, it is a miracle substance. One particular study, which was done in Japan, showed that if you use it on a regular basis you will reduce the chance of getting heart diseases. The study included over 40 000 Japanese men and women.

Prevents cancer
I’m sure you have heard about the things it can do to prevent cancer. Cancer is caused by free radicals. A great substance that fights free radicals is antioxidants. And a large amount of antioxidants is found in green tea, if the tea leaves are heated right after harvest. Luckily I know that my green tea source is just that.

Burns fat
Another very nice effect is has is that it can help you to lose weight. Yes, it is true, it helped me. I struggled for a while with my weight. I’ve been very active in my life. I worked out several times a week. One thing in particular that I did a lot was to play basketball, which is a great fat burning exercise. I did a great deal of lifting weights too.

Of course I gained a lot of weight since I didn’t change the amount of food I ate. Then I found a great multivitamin nutrition supplement that also contains decaffeinated green tea. It has really helped me a lot. Now I’m a bit more active, because the supplement has that effect too, and I have lost all the excessive fat that I had gained. And I’m positive that it is thanks to green tea. Sensitive or not, caffeine should not stop you from enjoy the above described benefits.

Coffee is one of the most popular beverages on the entire planet. Its consumption is so great in some parts of the world that it’s been taken from being a mere drink to being a way of life. Taking a close look at what coffee actually is, you’ll find it’s more than just the stuff poured in a cup.

The coffee plant:

The coffee you drink comes from what are commonly referred to as beans and the beans come from plants. There is more than one type of plant, though. In fact, coffee is actually a word that refers to an entire genus of plants that are made up of nearly a hundred individual plant species. Small trees or shrubs, originally native to tropical parts of Asia and Africa, some of the plants are the source of the seeds used to make the drink.

Also spelled Coffea, the species of this genus that produces the best quality coffee beans is called Coffea arabica. The quality that coffee is most famous for, caffeine, is actually used as these plants’ defense against wild animals. Caffeine is a natural toxin that would harm feeding animals.

The word coffee:

The word coffee was popularized in the English language at some point in the seventeenth century. There are, however, traces of the word as early as the century prior. It came to the English language through one language that had already taken it from another.

As far back as can be traced, the word originates from one of two Arabic terms. One of them is qahwat al-bunn, which means wine of the bean, and the other is a geographic area known as Kaffa. At some point this gave origin to the Turkish word kahve, which was later translated into English as the word we use today.

Coffee as a drink:

No one really knows how Coffea plants wound up being turned into a drink. There are many legends and stories that try to explain it but the truth will likely never be known. What is knows is that the drink has existed since at least the ninth century of the Common Era, but is sometimes dated back to as early as the fifth century.

The drink is made through what is now a long and heavily specialized process of cultivation, harvesting, processing and preparation. In almost all cases, seeds are actually handpicked and then put through a few normally low tech treatments. Huge industrial machines then roast the seeds until they resemble the beans most of us are familiar with. The actual drink is created by filtering boiling water through the ground beans. Many different steps can be taken, or altered, to create a wide variety of similar beverages.

Types of drinks:

Coffee itself can take several different forms. One popular variant is espresso, a highly concentrated version of coffee that is served as a shot. Cappuccino is another famous form of the drink, which is basically one part espresso and one part milk. Beyond that are countless commercialized forms of the drink designed to make it more popular amongst consumers. These include things ranging from iced coffee to instant coffee. Of course, everyone has their favorite.

Chocolate is one of the luxuries of life. It’s so soft and creamy, and how can something so beautiful, so good for you. Its health benefits come from flavonoids, which are a powerful antioxidant allowing healthy blood flow and preventing the clogging of arteries around the body. Of all the chocolates, dark wins as the one having far more flavonoids than milk chocolate and white chocolate has none.

Chocolate contains caffeine and saturated fats, and these two factors create a reputation as bad for us. Cholesterol levels raise because the fat in cocoa butter, but it also contains phenolen which helps reduces the risk of heart disease.

A cup of regular coffee has more caffeine in than one ounce of chocolate, 150 mg compared to 6 mg. Therefore its far better to give up coffee than it is chocolate.

Chocolate has also found to contain more antioxidants than green tea. The catechins within are powerful in preventing some cancers and heart disease. Chocolate also creates endorphins enable us to become relaxed, allows more oxygen to reach our inner blood supply and can even improve our memory.
Do not be misled, chocolate does have some negative effects but they are outweighed by the positives. Eating chocolate as part of a varied diet where intake is balanced with regular exercise is probably healthy for the heart.

Chocolate also contains a variety of minerals that are essential to good nutrition. These include calcium, phosphorous, magnesium, iron, zinc and copper. Each of these minerals plays important roles in a variety of biological functions, including growth, bone formation, metabolism and oxygen transport within the blood.

If you love chocolate and eat it regularly, the most beneficial types are dark chocolates that contain only natural ingredients and are not overly processed. Just remember, chocolate is high in calories and eating too much can therefore make you fat, increasing your risk of heart disease and over-eating of chocolate can also lead to obesity.
